3 Different Permanent Xbox 360 e73 Fixes YOU Can Do Yourself

Whilst an actual faulty chip can be the cause of the error, one of the following two situations is far more likely to be the culprit: either the lead solder around the ethernet chip has fouled due to overheating, or the graphics chip (GPU) has overheated and changed pressure on the motherboard. So now you know the causes, what are the Xbox 360 e73 fixes?
Firstly, you can" reflow" the graphics processor/GPU. This is actually the most common method used to fix the more frequent red ring of death error, but it also has a high chance of success when combating the e73 , as it returns the motherboard to a normal state and can fix solder fouling.
This method requires a proper heat gun (a normal hairdryer is probably not going to be powerful enough) and is the method most frequently described in Xbox 360 repair guides. It involves cleaning off the GPU, then heating it up slowly so that the solder can "reflow" back into the right position.
It is also possible to reflow the ethernet chip itself if the GPU reflow does not work. As you would expect this is a very similar process to step one above, but instead is done on a different chip. There is less documentation out there about doing this however, so it is better to attempt to fix the e73 by reflowing the GPU first.
You may also have heard of X-Clamp repair kits, which are another common method used to fix GPU errors and motherboard problems on the Xbox 360 platform. You can use the X-Clamp fix on the GPU to help repair the e73 with a good rate of success. It is especially effective if you combine an X-Clamp repair with an ethernet chip reflow- this basically covers both your bases.
There is one other commonly suggested repair method which is to be avoided- the "fan jam". This involves forcibly preventing the fans inside your Xbox 360 to work in order to overheat the console and reflow the lead solder. However, just like the towel-wrap trick, which some claimed was effective at being able to repair red ring of death errors on the Xbox 360, the "fan jam" may work temporarily at repairing the e73 error code, but could lead to permanent damage down the track.
